Alan Healy, PhD

Assistant Professor of Chemistry, New York University, Abu Dhabi

Alan Healy was born and raised in Ireland. Alan attended Trinity College Dublin where he obtained a degree in Medicinal Chemistry. Following this he was awarded a Cancer Research UK PhD studentship to pursue the development of novel anti-cancer drugs. This involved a MSc in Biomedical Science from the University of Edinburgh followed by a PhD in organic and medicinal chemistry from the University of St Andrews. His PhD research involved the development of small molecule modulators of cancer relevant protein-protein interactions and the total synthesis of two natural products, harzianic acid and JBIR-22. Alan took up a joint position between the Herzon (primary) and Crawford groups at Yale in 2015, with a focus on the total synthesis and biological assessment of DNA-damaging natural products.
