Phu Khat Nwe, B.A. Chemistry, Albion College

Phu Khat Nwe was raised in Yangon, Burma and received her B.A. in Chemistry from Albion College, MI. As a FURSCA research fellow at Albion, she worked on the synthesis of ketophenols using organometallic chemistry for evaluation of asymmetric aryl iodide catalysis under Dr. Andrew French. She also worked as a summer SURF fellow at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center towards quantitative analysis of MRI scans using MATLAB for evaluating the effects of Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG) on obese mice. After graduation from Albion College, she worked as an analytical chemist at Abbott Nutrition. Her current research in the Crawford lab focuses on engineering an important biosynthetic pathway.
